Ride the New York Metro Like a Native With These Three Tips

Kew Motor Inn offers luxurious themed rooms for guests in Jamaica, New York. Located in close proximity to both New York airports and all five boroughs, Kew Motor Inn is a popular hospitality location for tourists in New York City.

The New York subway is known the world over for its sheer size, as well as its difficulty to navigate as a tourist. Here are three tips to help you ride the New York subway like a real New Yorker:

Buy a MetroCard: Long gone are the days of subway tokens, replaced by the ever-present MetroCard. If you will be in New York for a week or less, consider buying an unlimited seven-day pass, which will almost certainly save you money if you plan to use the subway often.

Enter the right station: Many stations have separate entrances for inbound and outbound trains. To avoid swiping your MetroCard and finding yourself on the wrong platform, be sure to read signs carefully and check the map whenever possible.

Make room for others: During peak hours, the New York subway can become jam-packed with people. To make room for as many riders as possible, move away from the doors to the center of the car. Similarly, keep your bags and feet on the ground to avoid taking up seat space.
